Sunday 4th August

My brother and my mummy came this time. We all rode our bikes there. Mummy help out in the hut making tea. First me and Jake did some varnishing for the back of the hut. We did one each.

Then we did some rubbish picking with daddy, there was a lot of McDonald's things that people had left behind that we found there. We picked it up with something I don't know what it is called but it is used to grab things. We found a lot of rubbish, we filled one whole bag!

Because we had worked so hard we stopped for some lunch and mummy got us a cookie.

Next was my favourite part of the day. We did some digging and we did it on the grass. We were looking for the floor of the big building that used to be there a long time ago.

Daddy went to get us a little wheelbarrow to deliver the mud to the big mud hill. Daddy told me to take the wheelbarrow to the big mud hill every time it was full.

Soon we had a whole group of piles of mud. It was really fun and I got really dirty. I made a group of things that were very old, so I went to go and ask Gary about them.

This is where we were digging on the big map.

Then me and Jake varnished the top of the soldiers.

Not soon after that we came back to the digging and there was a massive group of people and I made a new friend. We took turns taking the wheelbarrow to the big mud hill.

This is how much digging we did.

Just before we left, Gary put up our soldiers on the back of the hut. Its quite cool because you can see it from the lighthouse.

Sunday 21st July

This Sunday I could not go to the fort because I went to my friends birthday party. It was a shame but I am looking forward to next time!

Sunday 7th July

When we got there daddy asked gary the man in charge if we could do some more digging. He said we could go and do another window if we wanted or some digging at the top on the path.

We helped dig up stones and put them into the wheel barrow. We put all the stones into a big pile by the car park.

It was really hard work. I wanted to push the wheel barrow back up the hill myself and I DID IT!

Sunday 23rd June

Today daddy and me went back to the fort and this time we got to help. The thing that we help with was ...

weed picking, we picked weeds out from the walls of the fort and the roof of the tunnel. After a cup of tea I helped one of the men to dig out the stones from the window. Then daddy and me cleared out a whole window by ourselves.

It was great fun and I was proud of myself!

Here are some more pictures of my fun day ...

Sunday 9th June

Today I went to help out the fort for the very first time. Daddy, Jake and me all rode our bikes to the shoreham fort. I wanted to do some digging but after daddy had talked to the man in charge and signed some papers it was too late and time to go home! I got a little bit upset but daddy said we would go back next time.

Why do I want to help?

I have decided to help out because the fort is special to me. It is special because we go there every year to celebrate my grandpas birthday. When Grandpa was alive he loved the sea. It is important for the fort to be fixed up so other people can remember how it was like in the older times.
